He feels Taylor shudder, rocks against him to drag the last of the energy from the both of them. He just wants to melt against him now, could give up everything right here and now and lie here forever.
When Taylor flops back onto the bed, Wash is still numb and fuzzy with pleasure. He pushes himself up and off Taylor's body, only enough to moved the few inches he needs to collapse next to him, a sprawling heap, lazy and boneless and satisfied.
Words still aren't a thing right now, but he can move enough to roll and tangle himself in David. Tuck him close and comb his fingers through his hair- panting and sweaty and so blissfully sated. That. That had been the best orgasm he'd had in awhile.
Nevermind it's the only one he's had in awhile, shush.
The best that Wash can manage right now is a low hum of contentment as he lets Taylor pull him close against his chest, stroke his hair, treat him like something precious, like something that he can protect. It's a nice feeling. One that he could get lost in. He presses his lips against Taylor's neck, mouthing idly at it, tasting the salt on his skin.
For once, it's easy to forget what's lying outside.
"...I promise I won't tell anyone you put out on the first date." He mumbles, as soon as he can think in whole words again. This is nice but it also feels a little- heavy. He's tired of heavy. Everything outside can be heavy. in here? it needs to be nice and light and easy.
David thinks that he mishears for a second, or imagines it. There's a moment of wide-eyed incredulity before he begins to laugh, burying his face against Taylor's shoulder with helpless snickers. "Well, I appreciate you defending my honour."
"Someone has to." He shrugs and turns enough to press a kiss into David's hair. They're far from home and might never get there again but this? This is good enough. More than.
It hits a note. Someone has to protect his humanity, and it sure as hell hasn't been Wash himself. Not for a long time. "Hey," he asks quietly. "It okay if I stay here tonight?" He wasn't sure if that was something Taylor would want. If he'd prefer his space or just doesn't want things to get that close. He knows Taylor had slept with North, maybe it's weird to do it with him?
"Mmm. Sure." He squirms and shifts until he's gotten himself properly tangled with Wash- he'll worry about cleanup and the wet spot in the morning. For now? this is good. "Sleep better with someone here anyway."
Wash settles down when York is curled up against him in a tangle of limbs and warmth. Tomorrow he is sure there will be rumours flying all around the base but who cares about that right now? He gives a soft hum of pleasure and settles down. "Maybe it'll work for me too. And... thanks."
"It can't be for all of them?" He lets out a soft huff of laughter. "For being you, I guess. Reminding me what I should be." He grins at York. "And y'know, the orgasm was pretty damn good too."
"I will wake you up with another one, fair?" He kisses Wash's forehead and rolls over, tangling their legs together. "It's okay to give a damn, alright? I know that kinda got beat out of us but- it's okay."
"I think that's acceptable, yeah," Wash replies. The kiss is warm, intimate in a way that was very different to sex, but no less important. "It's dangerous," he says earnestly. "It gets you hurt, one way or another. It's hard to let that happen again."
He laughs a little, unhappy despite it. "It was caring that made the Director do what he did." He'd loved Allison so much she'd become his obsession. "Look where that got us."
He closes his eyes. "It worries me okay? Either side I choose I'm a monster."
"It was not learning to let go that made him do what he did. We lost people. We'll always lose people, getting bitter over it, clinging too hard to the past? That's what made it wrong." He combs his fingers through David's hair, nuzzling his temple. "How does helping this side make you a monster?"
He shouldn't let this go on. It makes things too hard. But moving just... isn't going to happen. He's already too invested. "You think there aren't thousands of innocent people on the side of the Feds? People who are too scared to defect. It's a civil war, not aliens trying to wipe us out. It's messy."
"Trick is talking Kimball into it and then getting word over without being shot." He drums his fingers on the ball of Wash's shoulder, considering. "Could try an encrypted wave but that'll take some doing."
Wash hums softly, leans in to press a kiss against the curve of York's neck. "This is quite the pillow talk. You make a habit of talking politics in bed?"
"You don't need to babysit me, York. I should be able to figure this stuff out on my own, without dragging you into it." He smiles, presses a quick kiss to York's lips. "Yeah, in the morning."
"Yeah. Just takes a little getting used to. Not worked with anyone in a while." He closes his eyes and settles back. "You know you've got drills to run in about... six hours right?"

Stalling. He's stalling. Like if he can just delay for long enough then he can fix things before York finds out.
