[ Part of him wants to hunker down and keep working. The rest knows that if he doesn't go willingly he'll probably get hauled over by the ear and that stings so-

He does need to snake a hand out to cling to North's arm for a second. ]

[ He lets York take the time he needs to steady himself before turning. ]

[ Once he's got his feet under him he shuffles along after North. ]

Those packets say peanutbutter banana flavor but they lie.

[ Once he reaches the cabinet he reaches inside to grab a skillet. ]

They taste like the protein slurry you'd get from medical. All the vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that you need to heal up and the flavor of pain. They tasted like pain, Andrew.

[ Table. He just has to make it to the table- he slides into one of the chairs and props his chin up on his arms, watching North work. ]

That sounds amazing and this? This is why I love you.

[ He chuckles slightly. ] You'd better because I can promise you these'll actually taste as-advertised.

[ He sets the skillet on the heat before turning to grab a glass and fill it with water. ]

[ He takes the glass and offers North a salute, sipping slowly at first but maybe chugging to the end because goddamn he's thirsty. ]

I'd have a fridge full of takeout otherwise.

Take-out's not bad now and then, but. Yeah, real food.

[ He's not paying attention when York empties that glass, as he's working on mashing up a couple bananas in a plastic bag. ]

Being here, I know it's got major downsides, but at least we get real food.

[ That was something of a luxury considering how things had been when they were on the run. ]

I'm surprised at what all they still have on account of living in a DOME, but having a quarter of said dome devoded to producing produce, I guess it evens out.

[ Real food. Real beds. Real security- more or less. And not being dead. That's an excellent perk. ]

[ Soon enough the batter is ready and North flicks some water on the skillet to ensure that it's heated. ]

You should, sometime. Get out and mingle. The natives are pretty friendly in this district and after all the work we did a few days ago to clear the snow? We're real popular in D4. I'll stay in, keep an eye on theta.

[ Too loud, too crowded, too many points of entry and possibilities of being recorded. But the bar? The bar's alright. ]

Tomorro- I'm hanging with Clair tomorrow, I think. Rewiring her place with fresh security. Then there's rewiring the bugs around the block, the fit tests for the armor, going over the sealant so we don't get blasted with the toxic atmosphere when we go outside the dome, checking in with my supplier for the nonfiber for the undersuits to make sure we'll have enough for the second run-

[ He's- swamped. Happily so. ]

[ There's a noise of small feet and then York might feel something furry brush past him looking for anything that might be on the floor under the table.

Theta's come to the kitchen to get water and was followed, though the dog ended up entering first when he realized where they were headed. North and York sound like they're talking so he won't interrupt, but he's going to poke the bag North had used to mash the bananas. What's North making? It looks interesting. ]

I'm in no hurry. Sometime soon is good.

[ The first batch of pancakes is ready to come off the griddle and he gets out a plate—two of them, actually. ]

Hi, Theta. I'm making peanut butter banana pancakes. Would you like to try one?

[ The first few times he was not all in his head and the puppy brushed on by, York flinched and swore and tried NOT to swear at the same time because kid. Sort of kid. In the house.

Now he just blinks down at the pup and drops a hand down to scratch at his ears. The dog's okay by him. He doesn't judge York's life choices. ]

New years? There are going to be parties all over the Dome- Hey T-man.

[ York extends a closed fist in Theta's direction for a bump. ]

And you should totally have one. They're amazing.

[ The dog doesn't judge anyone's life choices so long as he gets food and attention, in that order. And he is perfectly content to sit where York cans scratch him until the attention stops. Look at the little purple tail wag. ]

I haven't had that yet? It smells good.

[ York gets a smile and a fist bump as Theta sits at the table. That would be a yes. He's still in "try everything" mode when it comes to food and so far sense of smell has been a pretty decent indicator...]

[ Two pancakes go on each plate and North sets them down on the table. Butter, syrup, and utensils are set down in addition before North returns his attention to the task at hand. ]

What do you think, Theta? Are you all right if I stay out late with York one night next week? We can make sure Delta and Malcolm will be home, whenever it is.

They smell good cuz they are good. Rule of thumb in this house- if anyone but me cooks it? Probably good.

[ He's never really cared that the stuff he throws together for just himself isn't the best- food is food. You put it in your food hole and use it to keep going through the day without passing out.

The pancakes get a tab of butter on them for York and a nudge of the syrup to Theta. Syrup makes all things taste good and teen bodies live off sugar. ]

Just for a couple of hours. We'll be home before, what? Two in the morning?

Maybe you could make something, and that'll be my reference point for bad?

[ He's joking, but only partly so. It's best not to take him up on that really.

He ends up pouring a little syrup on the edge of the plate so he can try it both with and without, and takes that time to think it over. ]

I think its okay... [ Not great, but okay. He'll have company, and he might try to stay up till North gets back, but it's not like he has to be up at a certain time so it should be fine. ]
