[ There's no other word that adequately describes the affection, loyalty, protective desires and familiarity that they've shared. It's a different sort of intimacy, wrapping your mind around someone else's, sharing a bridge between your thoughts and theirs. Love is the closest thing, the simplest, that he can use to say that he trusts Delta, that he won't ever leave, that he needs him, that he depends on him, and that he'll take care of him all in one little word.

It's not the same as he felt for Clair. Not what he'd felt for his family, but it's there.
