"..Not healthy to avoid it." There goes the voice of experience, hiding her grimace behind a swig of coffee. "But I understand." Focus on the out, leaves little time to let things focus inwards.
"I don't think I've a had a holiday outside the country since I was a child." If you don't count shore leave while on deployment. She doesn't.
"Now you sound like Delta." Take your time, York, stop running so hard, York, please see a therapist oh dear god, york. "Maaaaybe you could come with? D likes having a bodyguard with us even if we're way out of the way. After last night? I'd be more comfortable with one too."
"He's been around many who should listen to him and often don't." Somehow, the impression she gives is that she isn't talking about him. She is however genuinely surprised by his offer - perhaps she shouldn't be, but Carolina was used to contacts ending. Not an offer of a second to follow the first.
"..I get the impression you don't often include a bodyguard with your entourage on holiday?" Her brow arches, evading providing an answer right away. "What would you be expecting from me?"
"Not often. When I wasn't a big deal we didn't need them but D's been antsy about them lately and...I kinda see why." The past few years might've been building up to this. They both need the break and they'll need one with someone they can trust to do their jobs without winding either of them up. "Pretty much what you've done so far, with allowances to actually sleep and some off time while we're sequestered in the cabin so you can go chill on your own. I know I can be a bit much sometimes."
"Can you now," she replies evenly, allowing some amusement to show, but the offer certainly sounds valid, extended though it is without consulation with Delta.
But she doesn't think he'll need to take long on that. Delta plans, plays the long game, and likely had her staying on for longer in mind long before he contacted her.
Damn him, she thinks affectionately. She hadn't been struggling lately, and her last job had been temp, with good chance of rehire the following year. But this job, she'd actually had to put her skills to use. And working with her client wasn't quite as stuffy or politically tiring as bodyguard duty elsewhere had been.. "Talk with Delta when he wakes up. If there's an offer to be made that won't look like nepotism, then I'll consider it."
Given she's being paid very well for One Night Only, she can't say she's not intrigued by what a longer term job might provide.
"Being one of D's friends and his highest paying star doesn't make him give me preferential treatment. I dunno if he knows the meaning of the word." It wasn't possible for him as far as York knew. Still, the possibility of having Carolina on longer- that was a nice one. She was stern, but not stuffy, patient but didn't put up with his shit. Now that he thinks of it? It seems like the familial resemblance extends beyond the green eyes.
There are others that would exploit it, however. That rival of his, for example. But if it's only for a holiday..
One vacation would allow them to see if it were possible for something more long term. If they couldn't handle things while at peace, then it mattered little how well things went during 'business hours'. Said stupidly green eyes regarding the emptying contents of her mug, before she looks up at him. "All right. If you can talk Delta around to it, then we can give it a trial. If we can survive it, and each other, then we can talk something more long term."
That he's cute doesn't hurt, either. Even if she knows exactly how far flirting with the management can go in these cases.
There's a quiet passage of footprints on carpet as Carolina moves around. A distant rush of water, something being rung out. A pause, before a second male voice addresses her. Then a door closing, and the soft shuffle of feet as she moves over to the couch.
A light tap on his shoulder; a damp folded cloth in her other hand is held out. "This can sometimes help. Just rest it over your eyes while you relax."
"Mmm?" Anyone else? He'd crack an eye open to check but- Carolina was trustworthy in his book. He slips a hand up to catch at her hand, smiling at the offered cloth. "Thanks. Really."
Over his eyes it went and it's soothing enough to earn a soft sigh. Okay. This? Good idea.
He won't sleep, he may not even fully nap, but rest? That will be just as important, especially as the oncoming day doesn't look likely to slow down any.
She herself snatches a short nap on the opposite couch when Delta finally rouses a couple of hours later, fresh batch of coffee and some paperwork to review keeping him busy.
Dozing wasn't really an option but he gave it the old college try, reaching some level of inbetween by the time Delta wanders in. He extends a hand vaguely in his direction because he smells coffee. Makes grabby fingers. "Mmmmph?"
Delta, not Carolina there. She's still napping, and he is finalizing the necessary paperwork to have her taken on a longer basis. It will need his signature and York's, followed by hers. But he needs his friend awake to read the clauses before agreeing to anything.
"...mmmokay." He rolls off the sofa. Literally rolls till he can land on his feet and wander over, eyes still mostly closed and covered by the washcloth. Unerringly led to Delta by some sixth sense York leans against him, nuzzling into his hair. "Mmmphle."
Green eye over on the couch, along with its redhaired owner, cracks open a smidge at the garbled sounds. Delta, for his part, looks like a very put upon hound, who nonetheless is still doing his work even as York glomps against him.
Cute. And York must have made one heck of an impression on Delta for him to allow such nonsense for so long. Were they..? ...No. No, Delta was too professional for that.
Still if both were up, so too should the bodyguard be, and she sits up slowly, stretching one arm then the other, before carefully popping her neck.
For a moment he leans there, soaking up Delta's warmth and support before shuffling into a chair to pour himself into it. And pour coffee into himself. Like D said, it was waiting for him. "Mmmm...love you D. you're the best."
There's probably a sigh under all the leaning, Delta straightening a bit more once the York is appropriately seated. He seems unbothered by the declarations of love - from York, they are sincere as they are (probably) (mostly?) platonic, and there's a fresh cup poured for Carolina as she wanders over to join them.
"Hour, hour and a half?" He mumbles into his mug of coffee. Delta's dealt with him in the morning often enough to be used to his declarations. And been around him often enough in general to know he doesn't mean anything by it.
He sounds thrilled. And by that, she means not at all. "Hmm. In that case," she takes a larger gulp of her coffee, then fixes Delta with a stare. "I'll need the details for the location we're going to, and who's handling security on site, I'll want to liase with them ASAP."
She would prefer to be there on site sooner than later, but leaving him now was unwise. "I'll then send two of the lads ahead to check our route, as well as look out for anything or anyone on site. In smooth, out smooth, and then you can both get back to worrying about vacations."
"D." He murmurs, leaning enough to knock shoulders with Delta. "Sun or snow this time? I'm good with either." Somewhere quiet. Somewhere isolated. Somewhere he can not be on all the time, that'd be nice.
There does appear to be some surprise at the question, Delta resettling his glasses on his nose. "You went white water rafting last time," he points out reasonably. "So I assumed you wanted to consider the Alps - though you would need to decide between the French and the Swiss." A pause. "Or did you want to go to Japan?"
Said, while the details Carolina requested are slid over the table her way, and the redhead excuses herself to make a few phonecalls a room over.
"You know what? I think Japan. There's some nice, quiet spots in the north isn't there? Also: Hot springs. And local music." And sake, but he's trying to not overindulge. It's somewhere new and for him? New is good. New is great.

Till then? Futile attempts to nap, go. Eyes closed, scarred cheek tipped against the pillow, deep and even breathing.
Still won't work but it's better than nothing.

There's a glance towards the occupied sideroom - the one he used for sleep. "She mentioned you wanted to add another to the party?"
